Scheduling Appointments 

To schedule an appointment or to contact the Health Center, please call 973-789-8111 or existing patients may login to their patient portal to schedule.  Walk-ins are accepted but wait times may be longer for walk-ins.
 

Urgent Medical Care/After-Hours Coverage 

If you are a Saint James Health patient or family member, call 973-789-8111 for after-hours assistance. If you need medical, mental health or substance abuse help after hours, leave your name, phone number and concern with the on-call answering service. Your call will be returned by a Saint James Health provider. 

If this is a true medical emergency, please call 911 or go to an emergency room (ER) immediately. Please note: On-call providers do not prescribe or refill narcotics or benzodiazepines.

Calls for appointment and non-urgent prescription refills will be returned the next day. 

Report a Patient Safety Event 

If you have questions about how to report a patient safety event or concern, contact the Saint James Health Corporate Compliance Office Compliance@sjhealthnewark.com  

Referrals 

Some managed care insurance plans require referrals from your primary care physicians before your child can be seen by a participating specialist. We require at least 72 business hours for processing referrals and are not allowed to back date any referral request.   

Physical Forms 

Saint James Health staff will assist with filling out physical form.  Please allow our staff 72 hours from time of appointment for forms to be completed.  Most forms will require you to have a physical within the last three months, so please call for an appointment as needed.  Pre-Operative Form will require an appointment for a physical.

Refills 

Saint James Health patients may call the health center or request refills online. Some refill requests will require an in office visit, speak to your Saint James Healthcare provider to understand how often you will need to be seen to maintain refills.
